Things change. Newspapers have been the gates of daily knowledge. Now we have blogs, twitter and so on. Either newspaper will learn how to find their place in this new context or they will die, probably slowly. We are in need of great content. Once only journalist were allowed to write it. Now everybody can. That means there will be more crap around, but also many more voices and much more coverage about niches that once were never considered.
In any case blocking the content of a website when you open it on the iPad is just a signal that that newspaper are getting more and more desperate.
